Bauer has finally released the new 2009 Vapor X:40 hockey skate. For those of you who remember the Vapor 25, the X:40 is its 2009 replacement. The X:40 combines much of the performance of the Bauer X:60 but in a more price friendly form. So to begin, let’s start at the top of the X:40 and work our way down.
New features of the X: 40 make it ideal for replacing the Vapor 25
The actual boot is constructed from lightweight sublimated basket-weave nylon. Like the X:60, the X:40 also features the x-rib pattern on the back heal, offering good flexibility as well as support. The entire boot is heat moldable to give a custom fit to every type of foot. The inside of the boot is lined with a hydrophilic quick-dry grip liner, ensuring your skates dry quickly during a game. New to the X:40 is the insta-form ankle padding on the tongue. This gives the already comfortable, anatomical 2-piece tongue even more padding and comfort. On the inside of the boot, Bauer has used its super fit plus system with a stabilizer grip to ensure that the footbed gives excellent support and stays cemented during play.
Moving to the lower portion of the skate, the outsole of the X:40 is a fiber composite, giving it good durability against wear and tear. The X:40 uses the Tuuk Lightspeed 2 holder and the LS2 stainless steel runner or blade. If you’re a hockey player, then you know how well reviewed the Tuuk Lightspeed 2 holder and runner system is. This incredibly lightweight Tuuk coupled with the durability and sharpness of stainless steel is sure to make this skate very popular.

Skate lasted two months before the boot had no support whatsoever. Mind you this was skating 5 days a week plus two games on the weekend. I think this skate is only made for the casual skater and shouldn’t be used more than 2 or 3 times a week
i know same thing these skates hurt my feet so badly non stop blisters!!!!!!!
Got these skates and right after oven heated them they felt great. Had for 2 weeks so far so good best pair of fast fitting skates I ever had. RBK 9K and they stink compared to these.
